Microsoft softwares on iPhone

Posted by ifreak

MicrosoftBe prepared to see Microsoft products on the iPhone as the tech giant plans to offer software for it. In a recent interview, Microsoft expressed that their developers are considering a variety of possibilties that include Office functionality on Apple’s iPhone, which is sorely lacking in that particular department.

The reason why Microsoft is focusing on the iPhone is probably due to Apple’s release of the software development kit earlier this month. The iPhone SDK, which was released in beta aims to let developers have access to the same tools Apple developers used for building applications.

With the exception of Apple, Microsoft makes more software for the Mac than any other vendor. Among its most popular softwares is its Office suite for the Mac.

With plans to release the final version of the SDK this June, along with newer versions of the iPhone(3G), Apple sets to storm the world in style. The 3G iPhone contains the same platform and specifications as the iPhone, minus the cellular and network component.

One of the elements of the iPhone upgrade that should prove helpful to Microsoft is its support for the Microsoft’s Exchange e-mail server. Apple has confirmed that they have licensed Microsoft’s ActiveSync protocol for connecting the iPhone’s e-mail client directly to an Exchange server. As a result, email and contacts can be easily pushed to the iPhone. Look out for Microsoft, inside your iPhone.
